The 9200m2 indoor multi-use sports hub, combined with the outdoor playing fields, is the largest recreation park in the Selwyn District.
The sports hub features 8 courts, fitness areas, and a running track suspended above the courts. John Jones Steel was awarded the end-to-end contract to supply and erect the 450 tonnes of steel required for this project.
With our in-house draughting team producing the shop drawings, our Timaru and Christchurch plants fabricating the steel, our paint shop applying primer and top coats, our trucks transporting the final product to the site, and our site team assembling the large sections on the ground and lifting them into place, it was a full team effort across the board. Not to mention we were able to keep the project moving throughout and minimise work at height with our site erection approach.
