When construction is complete, the Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre will be the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue in New Zealand. It will be accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
John Jones Steel was the primary steel contractor for the project and provided all the structural steel for the entire complex. The facilities include an Olympic pool, diving pool, hydro slides, gym, multipurpose indoor courts, and more, all of which require extensive structural support.
The total weight of structural steel used was 3,958 tonnes!
